Unit 484 November 13  2008 Minutes

Unit 484 November 13 Minutes

Agnes Corns, Bob Fox, Addie Greene, Jerry Kenefick, Ellie Mitchell, and Kemble Yates attended. Audrey Green and Becca Ostrom were absent.

The October 9 minutes were accepted.

TREASURER’S REPORT
The unit’s balance is $14,854.61. The Memorial game earned $532 in table fees (minus the director’s charge of $100). The treasurer’s report was accepted.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Bob purchased a new computer and printer. Jerry asked that a mouse and data stick also be purchased.
GNT qualifiers must be held prior to April. Bob will speak to Bernadine Lacy and Leah McKechnie about holding qualifiers.
The Great Western STaC will be December 8-14. The board voted unanimously to make the unit’s December 11 game a STaC game.

 OLD BUSINESS

The board voted unanimously to suspend indefinitely the Thursday night game (except for the second Thursday unit championship game). I suggested that we wait until spring, when Jerry’s Easybridge! class is finished, and try to fold his students into a unit game. Bob suggested that we need 20 signatures from players requesting a unit game before we reschedule. Agnes pointed out that 20 players is only five tables, and all of those people might not show up: We need interest from more than 20 players to reschedule. Someone else suggested that we change the game to a weekend day; the question was, is a playing site available? Kemble will contact Scottish Rite to say we are vacating on Thursday nights. I will email Ed Miller and Molly Tinsley to tell them the game has been suspended.
Jerry has 14 people interested in taking Easybridge! Bob’s new class will begin December 8 or 15.

NEW BUSINESS
The unit’s holiday party will be December 11. Bob will ask the McKechnies if they’ll provide turkey. If not, Agnes volunteered. I said I’d bring salad or dessert.
I will bring the unit coffee pot that’s been in my closet since 2001 to bridge next week. Jerry moved that if that coffee pot doesn’t work or isn’t large enough, that we buy a 100-cup pot. Amazon has them for $120. Overstocks.com also has them. The motion carried.
Bob will remind club owners to post their results by the tenth of the following month (an ACBL requirement).

The next meeting will be December 11 at the Masonic Lodge.

Respectfully submitted,

Addie Greene, secretary
